The following is a statement composed of, but not limited to, the foundational doctrines that Glorious Day Baptist Church holds and teaches. These beliefs define us as independent, fundamental, Bible-believing Baptists.
The Scriptures
We believe that the Holy Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God. The Bible is our supreme authority in all matters of faith, practice, and daily living. We believe that the King James Bible (Authorized Version 1611) is the perfectly preserved Word of God for the English-speaking world, without error or mistake.
(Psalm 119:160; Proverbs 30:5–6; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:19–21)
The Godhead
We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost—each equal in divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
(Exodus 15:11; Psalm 83:18; John 10:30; John 15:26)
The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ: His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious death, burial, and bodily resurrection. We believe He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will return personally, visibly, and premillennially in power and glory.
(John 1:1,14; John 3:16; Philippians 2:6–10; 1 John 2:1–2)
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit was given to the church and revealed on the Day of Pentecost. His role is to reveal Christ to men, convict the world of sin, regenerate repentant sinners, indwell believers, illuminate the Scriptures, and sanctify the saved through His power and presence.
(John 14:16–17; John 20:21; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:14; 1 John 2:20)
Man and Sin
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing physical and spiritual death. As a result, all mankind is born with a sinful nature, is separated from God, and under His just condemnation.
(Genesis 1:27; Genesis 3:6; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:10, 23)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is entirely of God by grace, through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It is received through repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and not by works of righteousness. This salvation is a free gift, resulting in eternal life and forgiveness of sins.
(Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21; Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5; Revelation 1:5)
The New Testament Church
We believe that the local church is a called-out assembly of baptized believers, organized for worship, fellowship, service, and the proclamation of the gospel. The New Testament church was started by Christ during His earthly ministry with the calling out of the apostles.
(Matthew 10:1–2; Matthew 16:18; Matthew 28:18–20; Mark 3:13–19; Acts 2:41–47; 1 Corinthians 12:13, 28)
Church Ordinances
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the local church:
Baptism—by immersion, administered by proper authority, and only upon profession of faith. Baptism is a public identification with Christ and the door to church membership.
The Lord’s Supper—observed by the local assembly, restricted to its members, using unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine, to memorialize the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It is to be observed with solemn self-examination.
(Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:41,47; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 11:23–29; 12:12–14)
Holy and Separated Living
We believe that every believer is called to live a life of holiness, distinct from the world and dedicated to the service of God. Separation from worldly practices, philosophies, and associations is necessary to maintain a clear testimony.
(Romans 1:1; 2 Corinthians 6:14–17; 1 Peter 1:15–16)
Resurrection and Eternal Judgment
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the lost. The saved will be caught up at the rapture and rewarded at the Judgment Seat of Christ. The lost will face judgment at the Great White Throne and be cast into the lake of fire for eternity.
(2 Corinthians 5:8–10; Luke 16:19–23; Revelation 19:11–16; Revelation 20:4–15)
