History of Glorious Day Baptist Church | Chanute, Kansas
Glorious Day Baptist Church was founded in 1969, originally meeting in a humble storefront location in Chanute, Kansas. From the very beginning, the church was established as a place where the Word of God would be preached without compromise, souls would be reached for Christ, and believers could grow in grace and truth.
In its earliest days, a small group of faithful believers gathered with a shared vision: to build a local New Testament church grounded on the Bible, with a heart for souls, missions, and sound doctrine. That vision, rooted in the Great Commission and the old-time gospel, has remained firm to this day.
As the church grew, God provided a permanent home. The congregation moved to its current location at 120 S. Denman Avenue, where services continue to be held. Over the decades, the church has been served by faithful pastors and men of God who have boldly preached the King James Bible and shepherded the flock with love and conviction.
In the early 2000s, the church adopted a new name—Glorious Day Baptist Church—reflecting the blessed hope of Christ’s return and the joy of salvation. The name may have changed, but the mission and message have remained the same.
In 2025, Bro. Randy Dyke was called as pastor. Saved by the grace of God and transformed by the power of the gospel, Pastor Dyke brought a renewed passion for soulwinning, missions, discipleship, and faithful preaching. Under his leadership, the church expanded its outreach and ministries, including:
- Sunday School for all ages
- Children’s Church
- Men’s Prayer Breakfasts and Ladies’ Fellowships
- Youth Camps and Family Activities
- Local and global missionary support
Today, Glorious Day Baptist Church continues to stand as an independent, unaffiliated, and Bible-believing congregation. We still believe in the old paths, still use the King James Bible, and still preach Jesus Christ crucified, risen, and coming again.
We thank the Lord for His continued blessing on this ministry since that storefront beginning in 1969, and we look forward with anticipation to what He will do—until that glorious day when He returns.
“This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.” – Psalm 118:23
